Carriage Mounted Spreader Bars - This particular kind of mast includes three sections as the name implies. The outside part is connected firmly to the lift vehicle. The next section telescopes within the mounted outer section and the interior most section telescopes within the intermediate section. Both the intermediate and the inner section elevate and the lift cylinders lengthen. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides within the interior part. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height compared to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas such as doorways where overhead clearances are limited. This mast is usually equipped with a center cylinder so as to allow the fork carriage raise several distance before the mast sections start extension.
There are two main parts in a 2 Stage Mast. The outer section of the mast is mounted to the lift vehicle. The inner section sits inside the outer part and elevates when the cylinders extend. The fork carriage is actually positioned in the inner section. This particular mast type has a taller lowered height than an equivalent lift height quad mast or 3 stage mast.
